Former Republican presidential candidate, Nikki Haley, announced on Wednesday that she will be casting her vote for former President Donald Trump in the upcoming November election. Despite expressing her previous disappointments with him, Haley has made the decision to support Trump once again.
During a question and answer session at the Hudson Institute in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, Haley was asked her opinion on who would handle national security issues better in the White House: Joe Biden or Donald Trump.
Nikki Haley, the former United Nations ambassador, emphasized the importance of having a president who takes responsibility for confronting adversaries, ensuring border security, and promoting “capitalism and freedom.” While acknowledging that President Trump has not been flawless in implementing these policies, she expressed strong criticism of President Biden, characterizing his tenure as a calamity.
“I will be casting my vote for Trump,” stated Haley.
Haley made the decision to suspend her campaign in March.
In her campaign suspension speech, the former South Carolina governor emphasized the need for Trump to “earn the votes” following his significant losses on Super Tuesday.
In March, she expressed her belief that it is Donald Trump’s responsibility to win over the support of those both within and outside of our party who did not back him. She expressed her hope that he would be able to achieve this. She emphasized that politics is at its finest when it involves bringing people together for a common cause rather than pushing them away. She also emphasized the need for our conservative cause to attract more individuals.
After exiting the race, many of the Republicans who had previously challenged Trump for the nomination quickly aligned themselves with him.
The Biden campaign has made efforts to appeal to Haley voters, some of whom have expressed their indecision to ABC News.
On Wednesday, the Biden campaign representative responded to Hayley’s announcement by releasing a statement that highlighted their candidate’s strengths.
The statement emphasized that the Republican voters who consistently oppose Donald Trump in the primaries remain steadfast in their commitment to the future of democracy, advocating for strong alliances with foreign partners, and promoting bipartisan cooperation to address the needs of the American people. They also reject the chaos, division, and violence associated with Donald Trump. The statement further asserted that President Biden is the only candidate who shares these values and is actively working to earn their support.
Haley gained primary support in states such as Maryland, Indiana, and Wisconsin, even after dropping out of the race.
