New details on arrest in UGA law student’s death to be released by GBI in Tara Baker cold case

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has scheduled a news conference on Monday to provide updates on the recent arrest made in connection with the murder of a UGA law student.

Last week, the GBI charged 48-year-old Edrick Lamont Faust with her murder, bringing new developments to a case that had gone cold for years.

On Monday, GBI director Chris Hosey, along with Athens-Clarke Police Chief Jerry Saulters and FBI Atlanta Special Agent Keri Farley, will hold a news conference at 2:30 p.m. to provide further details on the investigation into Faust.

“After the arrest last week, Hosey expressed his thoughts on Tara Louise Baker, describing her as a diligent student with a promising future ahead. He emphasized that Tara’s life was tragically taken away from her through a horrific act of violence. Though this arrest cannot bring her back, Hosey hopes that it will provide some closure for the Baker family as they navigate their healing journey.”
