According to Angel Russell, she installed a car seat in her parked car on Woodman Avenue when she experienced the incident. She recounted hearing the sound of tires screeching and then witnessed a white car losing control.
Russell had very little time to respond to the imminent danger. With just seconds to react, she instinctively threw herself onto the floor.
According to KABC-TV, police reported that the Lexus involved in the crash collided with a truck traveling in the opposite direction on Woodward. In addition, it also hit two parked vehicles and a telephone pole before finally coming to a stop.
Russell witnessed the car colliding with the oncoming truck just before it was about to hit her. After ensuring her daughter’s safety, she rushed to assist the injured white vehicle’s occupants.
Russell recalled the moment when he decided to take action despite the uncertainty of what would happen next. “I didn’t know if it was going to explode, but I couldn’t just stand there and do nothing,” he said. With a sense of urgency, he opened the door to check on their well-being, only to find their bodies slumped over.
According to reports, tragically, one person lost their life in the collision. However, there is some hope amidst the sorrow as the mother, father, and daughter who were in the truck are expected to survive their injuries.
