Mocobizscene- Khalfani Hardwick, a 36-year-old individual, is currently facing charges related to attempted murder, domestic violence, and the possession of a firearm despite being forbidden to do so.
Judge Ben Fuller of the 19th Judicial Circuit has granted bail for the attempted murder charge and the gun charge, setting it at $500,000 and $25,000, respectively. However, he has denied bail for the count of domestic violence. As a result, Hardwick will remain in the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
The date for the preliminary hearing has not been determined yet. Fuller is in charge of the case as all the circuit judges have removed themselves from it.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office investigator was called as the only witness by the state on Friday. He provided testimony about the incident that occurred when the judge was attacked at his home on February 24. According to the investigator, Khalfani Hardwick was apprehended by deputies near the residence, and a firearm was found in his pocket. The ballistics analysis revealed that the gun recovered from Hardwick matched the casing discovered at the crime scene.
Khalfani Hardwick’s previous assault conviction and federal conviction for making false statements to a firearms dealer were raised by the state. Johnny Hardwick is currently in the hospital in critical condition, according to the witness’s testimony.
