Mayor of Stroudsburg arrested for DUI

In September, the mayor of Stroudsburg ran out of gas in Northampton County and is now in custody on DUI allegations.

Slate Belt Regional Police reported that Michael Moreno was discovered in his vehicle in Wind Gap at approximately 3 a.m. on Monday, September 11. Moreno allegedly failed a field sobriety test, and blood tests reveal that his blood alcohol concentration exceeded twice the legal limit.

Charging Moreno occurred on November 4. His court appearance is scheduled for January. As mayor of Stroudsburg, Moreno, age 31, assumed office in 2022 subsequent to the election of Mayor Tarah Probst to the State House of Representatives.

In November, he was re-elected with 67 percent of the vote.
