Man Critically Injured In Washington Heights Fish Restaurant Headshot

During a terrifying altercation at a fish restaurant in Washington Heights, one man was shot in the face; this was one of several shootings that occurred overnight. Wednesday morning, just before 2:00 a.m., the 37-year-old victim was shot once inside the Seafood King Fish Market on Broadway.

The alarming occurrences were captured on surveillance footage. According to the police, the suspect entered the restaurant and then used the restroom. Upon exiting the establishment, he brandished a firearm at the cashier and seized her phone prior to proceeding to the victim’s table.

Commander Investigative Coordinator Detective Bureau Lt. John Russo stated, “I don’t know if the victim saw it coming; the victim just had his belongings, cell phone, and money stolen while he was eating; I’m sure he was watching the encounter with the second victim, who was an employee at the location.”

“And it just seemed as the perpetrator was running out the door, he turned around and fired a shot, striking the victim in the hood.” Manny Reyes stated that he was the victim’s childhood friend.

“It was shocking,” stated Reyes. “While he was eating, he turned around to wipe his mouth clean when he was struck. “I hope they apprehend the perpetrator.”

According to authorities, the suspect fled. It was stated that he was approximately 5’5″ tall, had a medium complexion, and was attired in black, including a mask and apparel.

Police say a blue handgun is of particular interest as the weapon used by the robbery suspect.
“We’ve recovered one 9-millimeter shell casing at the scene,” Russo reported. “You know, we’ll forensically process that to see if it matches any of the shell casings on the face and that it doesn’t appear to fit any other robberies or patterns that we have going on in the area.”

Since late Tuesday night, the victim was one of at least four individuals wounded in New York City.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., a male individual was fatally shot in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Additionally, shortly before midnight, a double gunshot occurred in East Harlem.
