It is even more alarming to discover that in Louisiana, one out of every four residents personally knows someone who has been a victim of gun violence. This stark reality truly emphasizes the constant threat we face on a daily basis.

We all have someone in our lives who has fallen victim to violence, whether it’s due to drug deals gone wrong, gang violence, robberies, or even senseless shootings. The fact remains that these incidents are terrifying and deeply unsettling.

During the research study, participants were asked to rate their level of concern regarding gun violence. This was done to acknowledge the common effects of fear and anxiety caused by such incidents. The participants were asked to rate their concern on a scale of 0 to 10, with 10 indicating the highest level of concern.

Louisiana takes the lead with the highest level of concern, scoring an average of 7.72. It narrowly surpasses Texas, which scored 7.46. This means that those of us living along the Louisiana/Texas border should definitely be concerned.

New Orleans residents are leading the nation in their concern for acts of gun violence, according to the study.

First is New Orleans, LA, with an 8.06 out of 10 on the concern scale. On average, 1 in 5 residents of the city think about gun violence daily.

Louisiana not only leads the nation in our concern for acts of gun violence, but it is also the home to the highest-ranking city in this alarming statistic.
