Lee Greenwood, the country musician, is standing up for the “God Bless the USA” Bibles that he is selling in collaboration with former President Trump. It is worth noting that Trump is scheduled to face trial next month for hush money payments made to an adult film star.
Trump caused controversy when he posted a video on his Truth Social platform this week to advertise the Bibles he is selling alongside Greenwood. In the video, he expressed his admiration for the Bible, referring to it as his “favorite book.” However, this partnership has sparked criticism, as people are highlighting Trump’s numerous criminal charges and his past habit of endorsing products, ranging from steaks to sneakers.
In a recent interview with Newsmax’s Bianca de la Garza, Greenwood brushed off the criticism.
According to Greenwood, the backlash against the promotional Bible is primarily driven by those who dislike Trump. He believes that people on the left don’t necessarily hate religion, but rather, it is the Trump haters who are targeting the Bible. He also points out that the promotion of this Bible has been ongoing for more than three years, and the president’s call for prayer and use of this specific Bible has further contributed to the controversy.
“He could have chosen any Bible, but the fact that it contains the documents of our Founding Fathers makes it truly special,” he explained.
Greenwood expressed his pride in the president for openly declaring his faith in God and identifying as a Christian. He emphasized the importance of continuing to pray for the nation, highlighting the president’s courageous step in sharing his beliefs.
In his promotion of the $60 Bible, Trump encouraged Americans to engage in more prayer.
In a video posted on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump expressed his belief that religion and Christianity are crucial elements that are currently lacking in the country. He emphasized the need to reintroduce them swiftly, stating that their absence is one of the major issues contributing to the current state of chaos in the United States. Trump firmly believes that the loss of religion has had a significant impact on the country.
The website that sells the Bibles emphasizes that they offer a version with “easy-to-read, large print,” making it ideal for various occasions such as church, bible study, work, and travel. In addition to the traditional biblical text, this edition of the King James Bible includes lyrics from Greenwood’s patriotic song “God Bless the U.S.A.,” as well as important historical documents like the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Former Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) recently took a jab at Trump regarding his partnership, urging him to delve into the teachings of the Bible on the subject of adultery. On the show “The View,” the co-hosts also criticized Trump for selling Bibles, calling it a form of “pandering.”
