King Charles III has released a statement addressing his daughter-in-law, Princess Kate’s recent cancer diagnosis.
In a statement, a spokesperson from Buckingham Palace expressed the king’s pride in Catherine for her courageous speech. The spokesperson stated, “The king said he is ‘so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did’.”
Kate made a rare appearance on social media on March 22 to share the news of her cancer diagnosis. The 42-year-old wife of Prince William had undergone abdominal surgery earlier in January and had spent almost two weeks in the hospital.
“In the video, she mentioned that at the time, they believed her condition was noncancerous. However, further tests conducted after the operation revealed the presence of cancer.”
Last month, Buckingham Palace made an announcement stating that the British Monarch has been diagnosed with a form of cancer. Now, joining the list of health concerns, the Queen’s close friend and trusted advisor, Sir David Manning, has also been diagnosed with the same illness.
In a statement released by the palace, it was affirmed that King Charles and Camilla, Queen Consort, have maintained close contact with their beloved daughter-in-law in the recent weeks. The statement further emphasized that they will continue to provide love and support to the entire family during this challenging period.
In her video message on Friday, Kate revealed that her medical team has recommended a course of preventative chemotherapy as part of her treatment plan. However, she did not disclose the stage or type of cancer she is dealing with.
She did, however, discuss how she is coping with her diagnosis and how she is sharing it with her children. She has three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, whom she shares with her husband.
“This, of course, was a massive surprise, and my husband William and I have been doing everything we can to privately deal with and navigate through this challenging situation for the sake of our young family,” she expressed. “As you can imagine, it has taken a considerable amount of time. Personally, it took me a while to recover from a significant surgery before I could begin my treatment.”
“But, above all, we have taken the time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is suitable for their understanding, and to reassure them that I will be fine,” she emphasized.
The Princess of Wales assured everyone that she is “doing well and gradually gaining strength every day.” She humbly requested privacy while expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support received during this challenging period.
“Being accompanied by William brings me immense comfort and reassurance. The love, support, and kindness shown by all of you mean a lot to both of us,” she expressed gratefully. However, she also emphasized the need for some time, space, and privacy while she undergoes her treatment, hoping that the public would understand their family’s needs.
