Jonah Goldberg labels Kamala Harris as Joe Biden’s most detrimental political choice

In a recent statement, conservative columnist Jonah Goldberg criticized President Biden’s choice of Vice President Kamala Harris, labeling it as his “worst political decision” during his presidency.

During a panel discussion on CNN’s “The Chris Wallace Show,” Goldberg put forth the argument.

During a panel discussion, CNN anchor Wallace shared the findings of two separate focus groups. He mentioned that the Republican Voters Against Trump, an anti-Trump outside group, discovered that swing voters have a dislike for Harris. Additionally, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) conducted their own focus group, which revealed that the Vice President tends to rub some people the wrong way.

According to Jonah Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of “The Dispatch,” he believes that Kamala Harris’s likeability problem could potentially pose a challenge to Joe Biden’s chances of being reelected.

“I believe she’s quite burdensome. In my opinion, choosing her as his running mate was perhaps the most regrettable political move made by Biden during his presidency,” Goldberg expressed during a Saturday discussion on CNN, as reported by Mediaite.

“And one of the reasons that makes her a drag is Biden’s age concerns people,” he stated. “People worry about his ability to serve a full term and if he is capable of handling the responsibilities of the job. Therefore, the vice president holds more significance than usual.”

The columnist from the Los Angeles Times made a case against Democrats nominating candidates from deep-blue states. The argument stemmed from concerns about their ability to appeal to a wide range of voters, unless they possess exceptional talents like former President Obama.

According to Goldberg, it would be wise for Democrats to refrain from nominating or promoting individuals from heavily Democratic states unless they possess extraordinary talents, similar to Barack Obama. He believes that Kamala Harris lacks the ability to effectively communicate with the center or right-leaning individuals, as her language primarily caters to the party’s base, which comprises only 34% of the electorate.

According to Wallace, a recent poll conducted by Monmouth University revealed that her job rating received disapproval from 55 percent of the respondents. This marks a slight improvement from the previous poll in February, where the disapproval rate was at 58 percent.

Tech journalist Kara Swisher, who was also on the panel along with journalist Lulu Garcia-Navarro and Washington Free Beacon’s editor-in-chief Eliana Johnson, dismissed the significance of Harris’ numbers, asserting that she will not be replaced by another candidate.

According to Swisher, the replacement of the Vice President does not hold much significance as she is not well-liked by many. Swisher believes that people have various reasons for disliking her and that the role of the Vice President is not as important as it is often perceived to be. In fact, Swisher suggests that people hardly even think about the Vice President unless certain circumstances arise.

According to Wallace, the age of Biden might be of greater significance.

Marissa Swisher pointed out that she understands the perspective being presented. However, she believes that people may not initially associate her with the topic being discussed.

“I believe they haven’t been fond of her. Her vice presidency hasn’t been successful, although I’m not sure what that really means. People didn’t think highly of Mike Pence or Dan Quayle either. But it doesn’t matter because she’s not going anywhere and he won’t replace her. Just imagine the chaos it would cause.”
