Johnson County Deputies Arrest Two Intoxicated Drivers Involved In Separate Accidents

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Two drivers allegedly drove under the influence when they collided with Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies in two separate accidents on Sunday.

Around 1 a.m., Sergeant Troy Montgomery was driving east on King Street towards Umbarger Lane. Unfortunately, Jacobee Doolin, a 31-year-old from Indianapolis, failed to yield the right of way to Montgomery, resulting in a collision. Following the incident, Doolin was taken into custody for Operating a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated, which is classified as a Class A misdemeanor.

Law enforcement officials have reported another accident involving Fabion Craig, a 21-year-old from Greenwood. In this incident, Craig struck Deputy Clint Abbot’s vehicle head-on. As a result of the collision, Abbot suffered a broken leg and was initially taken to St. Francis Hospital South by ambulance. He was later transferred to a trauma center in Indianapolis for further treatment.

Craig faced multiple charges after being arrested, including causing serious bodily injury while operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, possessing a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license resulting in injury, and resisting law enforcement.

Sheriff Duane Burgess of Johnson County reported that one of his deputies was engaged in a head-on collision in Greenwood during the early hours of Sunday morning.

The deputy was responding to a domestic dispute just north of the accident location when the crash happened on Morgantown Road, south of Old Smith Valley Road, at around 2:45 a.m.

Both the officer and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to different hospitals in Indianapolis. The officer was taken to an Indianapolis Hospital, while the driver was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital. Both were transported via the White River Township Fire Department Ambulance. Fortunately, the injuries sustained by both individuals are believed to be non-life-threatening.

Law enforcement officials have reported that the deputy was heading north while the other vehicle was traveling south on Morgantown Road and appeared on the wrong side.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) has asked the Bargersville Police Department to investigate the accident. JCSO is currently conducting tests to determine whether the other driver was impaired.
