Investigation underway for impairment after Saturday night accident by KCPD

An investigation is currently underway by the Kansas City, Missouri police following a serious single-vehicle accident that occurred on Saturday night near the intersection of E. 23rd Street and Stark Avenue. The accident resulted in severe injuries, and authorities are working to determine the cause of the incident.

The scene was reached by officers at approximately 11:21 p.m.

According to the authorities, the driver of a black Dodge Charger was speeding at a high rate while heading westbound on 23rd street, leading to the loss of control over the vehicle.

As the vehicle veered off the road, it collided with a sign, causing it to break off from its base. The impact resulted in the vehicle flipping over multiple times.

The Dodge veered into the lanes for eastbound traffic on 23rd and collided with a rock wall before coming to a stop on its wheels.

According to KCPD, the vehicle’s occupants included an unrestrained 2-year-old and a 13-year-old who were both ejected from the vehicle.

In the vehicle’s back seat, there were two additional passengers who were not restrained – a female passenger and a 10-year-old child.

The authorities apprehended the driver for investigation on suspicion of impairment.
