Investigation by law enforcement in progress near RaceTrac on Piedmont in downtown Atlanta

Atlanta police are currently at the scene of an ongoing investigation.

Around 1 a.m., journalists from Channel 2 Action News arrived at the 100 block of Piedmont Avenue Northeast, right across from the RaceTrac. They observed a significant police presence in the area.

A white vehicle parked outside of a building was encircled by caution tape.

Photographers from Channel 2 Action News captured images of officers inspecting the white vehicle, which had an open door and damaged windows.

The Piedmont location of RaceTrac made the decision to close its doors in February, citing “significant public safety issues” as the reason. This decision came shortly after a tragic shooting occurred near the store.
