Internet service launched by Alabama Fiber Network

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey marked a significant milestone in Cullman on Wednesday, as the area received its first-last mile customer fiber service from the Alabama Fiber Network. This achievement brings the state closer to its goal of providing high-speed internet access to all Alabamians.

According to Terry Metze, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, this is a significant achievement. Metze commends Governor Ivey for her investment in the project and emphasizes that they are expanding the network by more than 5,000 miles to ensure that every county in Alabama is connected to the internet.

According to him, all major electric cooperatives including Alabama Power are participating in this initiative. He added that they are aiming to illuminate the entire state, providing bright lights similar to those in downtown Birmingham or New York.

According to Metze, it’s important to exercise patience as the project may require up to three years to complete.
