Mocobizscene-  The community is reeling with confusion and grief following the tragic shooting and death of the Imam of a mosque in Newark. Shockingly, this is not the first instance where the imam has been targeted in a violent incident.

Authorities are currently conducting an investigation to determine the motive behind the killing.

Imam Hassan Sharif was discovered by the police on Wednesday morning, lying in the parking lot just 10 feet away from the entrance to Masjid Muhammad. The mosque shared a video of the incident, highlighting the concerning situation.

John Del Giorno is providing the latest updates on the shooting in Newark, as reported by NewsCopter 7. It occurred at a time when no one expected it. South Orange Avenue and Camden Street intersect with each other.

In August, Sharif took to Facebook to share an incident where he was assaulted while on his way to morning prayers. Despite the attack, he managed to escape unharmed. Despite authorities stating that the shooting does not seem to be racially motivated, members of the community are still gripped by fear.

Sharif, who had been working as a transportation safety officer at Newark Airport since 2006, was known for his strong belief in assisting others. In fact, this mosque served as a “safe surrender” spot, providing a secure place for fugitives to voluntarily surrender themselves. People who were acquainted with Sharif admired his dedication to helping those in need.

Police are currently investigating the incident and reviewing surveillance footage from the vicinity. In an effort to gather more details, they have also announced a reward of $25,000 for anyone who can provide relevant information.
