An experienced hiker’s body was discovered at the base of a waterfall, bringing an end to the search that had been ongoing for days in Northern California.
During a press conference on Friday, Sheriff Tina M. Nieto of Monterey County confirmed that search and rescue teams discovered the body of Caroline Meister, a 30-year-old individual. The teams found her at approximately 10:45 a.m. PST at the bottom of a waterfall, located near a trail in the Ventana Wilderness.
According to the police, foul play is not suspected.
The cause of death has yet to be confirmed by the coroner, but the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office stated that her injuries were in line with those sustained from a fall from a height.
