Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) strongly criticized President Joe Biden for exploiting immigrants as “political pawns” upon their arrival in the United States.
During an appearance on Fox News Sunday, Governor Abbott discussed his recent visit to New York City, which has experienced an influx of 157,000 immigrants between 2022 and 2023, according to Mayor Eric Adams. Governor Abbott emphasized that while he has transported immigrants from Texas to the sanctuary city, the number of immigrants sent from his state is relatively small compared to the total number of arrivals.
According to Abbott, it is Joe Biden who is using illegal immigrants as political pawns. He claims that Biden’s open border policy is aimed at appealing to and appeasing the far leftists in the Democrat Party, such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Abbott believes that Biden is prioritizing winning their support over the well-being of the country he leads.
New York City has welcomed over 40,600 immigrants who were transported from Texas since August 2022. In contrast, Texas continues to bear the burden of illegal immigration, with local law enforcement apprehending more than 506,500 individuals since the initiation of Operation Lone Star in March 2021. Governor Abbott emphasized that his policies have led to a decrease in the number of immigrants crossing into Texas.
Texas is leading the way in job growth, ranking at the top for the most new jobs added. Our economy is thriving, with jobs increasing at a rapid pace. Interestingly, illegal immigration into the state of Texas has seen a significant decline of 72%. This can be attributed to the resistance we have put up. In contrast, other border states have experienced an increase in illegal immigration. Texas is successfully curbing illegal immigration while simultaneously creating more job opportunities and boosting our economy faster than the rest of the country.
Abbott’s immigration policies are currently facing legal challenges from the Department of Justice under the Biden administration. Despite this, the governor remains confident in the resilience of his laws.
In the past month, the number of migrants apprehended at the 2,000-mile southern border reached 137,000. This figure is in addition to the staggering count of over 10 million immigrants who have reportedly entered the country illegally since President Biden assumed office. Remarkably, this administration has witnessed the highest recorded influx within such a short span of time.
