According to recent reports, News On 6 has gathered additional information about the man who prosecutors claim was the main suspect in a nationwide manhunt last week. Stacy Drake has been charged with the murder of three individuals in Oklahoma and one person in Alabama.
Currently, Drake is being held in the Sequoyah County jail on charges of murdering two employees at a propane business in Gans, located near Sallisaw. After committing the crime, he stole their car and fled to Arkansas.
After a two-day manhunt, Drake was apprehended in Morrilton, Arkansas, and has since been transferred to the Sequoya County jail. According to investigators, Drake was responsible for the shooting deaths of Tara Underwood and Taylor Sharp at LaFerry’s Propane last Tuesday. Drake then fled the scene in Underwood’s car and was caught on camera at a motel in Arkansas. He was later found and arrested in a wooded area approximately 50 miles from Little Rock.
According to investigators, Drake has been wreaking havoc through a series of violent crimes that began in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and have now spread across more than 700 miles. The authorities in Tuscaloosa have reported that on May 14th, Drake fatally assaulted Russell Andrews at an alcoholic’s anonymous facility. Subsequently, Drake allegedly stole the victim’s car, which was later captured on camera near the Arkansas-Oklahoma state line merely hours after the incident.
According to El Reno police, Phillip Emerson was discovered deceased at his home on June 14th. The police have identified Drake as the perpetrator, who allegedly stole Emerson’s truck and drove for 180 miles to the Sallisaw area. It was there where he is believed to have killed Underwood and Sharp a few days later.
According to official records, Drake received a 22-year prison sentence back in 2010 after committing a carjacking offense where he held a man at gunpoint in Alabama and led the police on a dangerous chase. However, in 2017, he was resentenced, and his prison term was reduced to 11 years, which led to his recent release from detention. Additionally, the records also reveal that Drake was previously found guilty of aggravated assault in Arizona in 2003.
According to records, there is a warrant out for Drake in Texas County, Oklahoma. This is in connection to a robbery that took place in Guymon in 2010.
This week, Drake is set to appear in court to confront the murder charges against him.
