Fremont Lake experiences fish death caused by extreme heat, up to 1,000 fish killed, city reports.

The scorching heat in the Bay Area has been identified as the culprit behind the recent fish die-off at a Fremont lake.

According to ABC7 News, the officials from the city have confirmed that Lake Elizabeth in Central Park has witnessed the death of 500-1,000 fish.

Amidst the scorching triple-digit heat, the Alameda County Fair has decided to keep its gates open till Sunday. The fair is taking necessary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of the 4-H and FFA animals.

On Wednesday, the fish were discovered and the cleanup crew promptly began their work on them.

According to Fremont authorities, the current heatwave has caused a decrease in both water levels and oxygen levels within the water.

In an effort to safeguard the remaining fish, the city is working towards increasing the water level.
