Former Woodstock police officer released on bond following indictment for involuntary manslaughter, according to records

A former Woodstock police officer charged with involuntary manslaughter for allegedly shooting and killing a 20-year-old during a police chase has been released from jail after being in custody since last Monday.

Grant Matthew Shaw, the former Woodstock officer, was booked on April 22 and spent a week in custody at the Cobb County jail. This information is based on records from the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office.

On April 20, a grand jury indicted him for the shooting death of 20-year-old Emmanuel Millard in October 2023. Two days later, he turned himself in.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Millard was engaged in a police chase on October 12, 2023. Tragically, he lost his life the following Saturday.
