The aspiring candidate for the position of chief law enforcement officer in Henry County has a notable history of encounters with law enforcement himself.
A recent investigation by Channel 2 Action News uncovered that Cornell “CJ” Madison has been arrested on multiple occasions. Surprisingly, even though he is currently on probation, he is still eligible to run for the position of sheriff.
When you see Madison, you’ll notice traits you’d typically expect from a candidate running for sheriff – extensive experience in law enforcement, successful drug busts, and an impressive reputation in the field.
His main goal is to bring transparency and implement necessary changes to address the issue of violence within the Henry County Jail.
According to state law, he is abiding by the regulations and has the eligibility to run for public office.
Channel 2 Action News has obtained video footage of the DUI arrest in 2019 that ultimately led to the termination of the individual from their position at the South Fulton Police Department.
After several months, he was rehired in Butts County.
He now claims to have learned from his mistakes and is prepared to take charge as the Sheriff of Henry County.
“I can be a police officer, I can be a chief of police, I can be a Marine defending our constitution. We all make dumb mistakes under dumb situations,” Madison stated, emphasizing the diverse roles he is qualified to take on.
In 2007, Madison faced another arrest in Las Vegas. The incident occurred when an undercover police officer stated that Madison had presented himself as a pimp and attempted to hire her as a prostitute. This incident, although different from the arrest caught on camera, highlights a recurring pattern of behavior.
Madison clarified that he was not involved in any pimping activities.
According to the documents, Madison requested the undercover cop to make $1,500 per night and pay him $1,300, while also providing guidance on avoiding detection by the police.
Madison has provided documentation that the case has been sealed.
