Former Atlanta swim coach found guilty of sexually assaulting underage swimmers in Colorado, according to district attorney

In Boulder County, Colorado, a former Atlanta swim coach has been convicted on multiple counts of sexually assaulting children.

Jon Beber sexually abused three swimmers he was coaching between 1997 to 2001, according to a release from the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office.

In 2002, allegations emerged that he had engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with multiple underage swimmers on the Boulder Swimming club team. As a result, he decided to quit the team and leave Colorado. Parents confronted him regarding these allegations, and the District Attorney’s office also got involved.

The DA’s office initially stated that there were no reports made to law enforcement at the time. However, in 2022, three victims came forward and the DA’s office subsequently filed charges against Beber.

In 2022, Channel 2 Action News revealed that Beber had also served as a swim team coach in several states including New York, Florida, and Georgia. Atlanta police took him into custody on July 14, 2022, based on charges originating from Boulder County, Colo.
