A Philadelphia man has been sentenced to 160 months in federal prison for possessing over a pound of crystal methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika, according to David C. Weiss, U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware.
In October 2022, Raymond Talley found himself in a predicament when he arrived at a Delaware hotel carrying over a pound of crystal methamphetamine with the intention of selling it to another drug dealer. As he stepped into the hotel lobby, little did he know that law enforcement was already waiting for him. Before he could make his escape, Talley was apprehended, and the authorities successfully recovered the stash of crystal methamphetamine.
U.S. Attorney Weiss emphasized the potential danger that this quantity of methamphetamine posed to the people of Delaware. He expressed his commitment, along with law enforcement agencies, to tirelessly combat the threats and protect the state from such harms.
According to the Special Agent in Charge of HSI Philadelphia, William S. Walker, the HSI Wilmington’s First State Border Enforcement Security Task Force, in collaboration with the Newport Police Department, made significant efforts to ensure that Mr. Talley was apprehended and brought to justice. He emphasized the importance of law enforcement’s continuous fight against the trafficking of methamphetamine in our communities. Through efficient cooperation and swift action, investigators and prosecutors joined forces to successfully conclude this case.
