The suspects have made their appearance in a juvenile courtroom on the weekend, facing charges of second-degree murder.

Reggie Brown’s family expressed their exclusive outrage to FOX 5’s Shomari Stone, stating their strong desire for the teens to be charged as adults. They are deeply disappointed that the three girls are being charged as juveniles.

According to Brown’s family, the 64-year-old had been dealing with cancer and was in a weakened state.

According to FOX 5, the residents of the Northwest neighborhood where Brown resided described him as a peaceful individual who occasionally approached people for financial assistance.

According to his family, on the night of his death, he was simply walking back to his apartment that he shared with his sister. It was during this walk that he unexpectedly encountered a man and three girls. Tragically, they allegedly attacked him.

On Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at approximately 1 a.m., it occurred.

“They should face adult charges because they were fully aware of their actions,” expressed Brown’s sister in an interview with FOX 5. “Their behavior reflects that of adults, and therefore, they should be held accountable as such.”

Reggie Brown’s family expressed to FOX 5’s Shomari Stone that he was a compassionate individual who always looked out for others and was willing to go above and beyond to help those in need. They are struggling to comprehend why anyone would want to take his life.

The police apprehended both the 12-year-old and the 13-year-old.

The alleged accomplice, who is also 13 years old, was apprehended a day prior to the other individual.

The Office of the Attorney General has stated that they are unable to comment on the reasons why the girls are not being charged as adults, as they are considered juveniles.

In general, the law in D.C. does not allow for children under the age of 15 to be prosecuted as adults.
