Family of Trooper Killed in Southington Hit-and-Run Receives Overwhelming Support

On May 30th, Trooper Aaron Pelletier, 34, lost his life on I-84 in Hartford County.

Troop H, the unit where Aaron served for nine years, expressed in a GoFundMe description that the sorrow and anguish brought by Aaron’s unexpected death are beyond words.

His colleagues fondly remember the K9 handler and Tactical Team member as more than just a colleague; to them, he was a friend and brother. They will always cherish his contagious smile, witty sense of humor and his enthusiastic attitude towards training and teaching new Troopers.

The troop emphasized that Aaron’s duties as a husband and a father were of utmost importance.

“Aaron’s love and commitment towards his wife and two sons had no limitations.”

In his obituary, it was recalled how he lovingly constructed a coop for his wife, Dominique, when she expressed a desire for chickens. Additionally, it was noted that he dedicated his time to coaching his son Troy’s t-ball team at Southington West Baseball, displaying his commitment to both family and community.

According to Aaron’s obituary, they always spent time together when they were off duty.

“He felt happy, loved, and complete because of this.”

Currently, the troop is collecting donations to support Dominique, Aaron’s wife, and their two children, Troy and Zach, during this challenging period.

The troop expressed their condolences by writing, “We will take it from here” and bid farewell to their fallen brother with the words “Rest in peace.”

Over the course of three days since the fundraiser launched, the family has received an overwhelming outpouring of support. Thousands of generous donors have contributed a cumulative total of $395,000, accompanied by heartfelt messages of condolence and sympathy.

At a local YMCA, Ann Marie Micacci took care of Aaron and Dominique’s children, as stated in the fundraiser.

She wrote a heartfelt message, stating, “You always greeted us with a smile and your pleasant demeanor. Our thoughts are with you.”

The Xfinity Theatre located at 61 Savitt Way will host the funeral services of Aaron Pelletier on Wednesday, June 5th at 11 a.m.
