Early Saturday, Independence Sonic crash claims life of 18-year-old

An 18-year-old has been identified as the victim in a fatal crash by the Independence Police Department, according to reports.

At 4:45 a.m. on July 20, a collision occurred at the intersection of Noland Road and 35th Street.

Police reports indicate that while traveling south on Noland Road, the driver of a 2008 Nissan Altima lost control of their vehicle. As a result, the car veered off the road and crashed into Sonic located at 3444 Noland Road.

Joshua Snowbarger, an 18-year-old from Kansas City, Mo., tragically lost his life in a car accident. Despite the paramedics’ efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash.

The Independence police department made it clear that this particular accident was not connected in any way to the fatal crash that occurred on US Highway 40 just a few hours earlier.
