Over the weekend, a man from Gainesville found himself facing a multitude of charges as a result of his involvement in two separate accidents.
Around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Hall County deputies responded to a call regarding an overturned UTV on Shope Road at James Ed Road.
Hayden Kenneth Jackson, a 29-year-old resident of Gainesville, was involved in an accident where he flipped a 2000 Polaris General while making a turn. The incident occurred when his vehicle collided with a telecommunications box located by the side of the road.
Jackson was able to lift the UTV with the assistance of another individual present at the scene. When law enforcement officers started to approach them, both men quickly entered the vehicle and swiftly drove away.
According to HCSO, Jackson attempted to evade deputies by driving down James Ed Road, making a U-turn, and then turning right onto Shope Road.
The UTV was flipped a second time in a curve on Shope Road in the area of Mark Trail, as reported by the sheriff’s office.
Jackson faced arrest and separate charges for each incident.
Jackson faced several charges following the first crash, including failing to stop after hitting a fixture, driving on the wrong side of the road, driving too fast considering the conditions, running a stop sign, and not having proof of insurance.
The 29-year-old was charged with several offenses for the second crash, including DUI/alcohol-less safe, reckless driving, driving too fast for conditions, failure to maintain lane, operating an unregistered vehicle, driving with off-road tires on a roadway, and two counts of fleeing or attempting to elude.
A 29-year-old man from Lula, who was a passenger in the vehicle, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening in the second crash. He was promptly taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
Jackson was able to secure his release from the Hall County Jail by posting a bond worth $16,860.
