Driver dies after vehicle crashes into White House gate at a high speed

Late on Saturday, a driver was killed when their vehicle crashed into a gate at the White House complex. According to a spokesperson from the U.S. Secret Service, the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the incident.

Officials stated that there was “no threat” to the White House following a vehicle crashing into a barricade right before 10:30 p.m.

According to a statement, security protocols were put into place as officers cleared the vehicle and tried to provide assistance to the driver who was found dead.

The crash will be jointly investigated by the Washington Metropolitan Police and the Secret Service.

According to a statement released by police officials, the incident is currently being investigated solely as a traffic crash by MPD’s Major Crash Investigations Unit.
