The Mississippi Department of Public Safety’s Driver Service Bureau has recently unveiled a fresh design for Mississippi driver’s licenses. This updated design features a range of iconic elements that represent the state’s unique character.
Mississippi has introduced several new symbols, including a guitar, music notes, and the state outline, to accompany its new state flag.
Governor Tate Reeves expressed his admiration for the new design, stating that it effectively represents the unique essence of Mississippi. He also hopes that all residents of the state will proudly embrace it.
In the previous month, the Mississippi Department of Public Safety and Attorney General organized the Mississippi Public Safety Summit for the second time. The event was attended by state law enforcement leaders, prosecutors, and fire chiefs, as well as Governor Reeves, Attorney General Fitch, and Commissioner Tindell. During the summit, they presented the new design to all the attendees.
Commissioner Sean Tindell expressed his enthusiasm for the new design, stating, “We are very excited to announce this new design. We can’t wait to share it with our residents. Thank you to our friends at Idemia and everyone who has worked on this project.”
By July 1, 2024, the new design will be accessible at all driver’s service locations throughout the state. It’s worth noting that licenses with the previous design will still be considered valid as long as they haven’t expired. If you wish to obtain the new design, you can opt for a renewal license.
