Deaf-Mute Teen Keyla Contreras Disappears from East Harlem in 2012

It’s been nearly a decade since Keyla Contreras, a teenager from New York, went missing, but there is still little information available about the progress of her case. Although she was last seen at her home in East Harlem in Manhattan, the circumstances surrounding her disappearance are still unclear.

Keyla Contreras, 18, was last seen around 7:00 a.m. at her residence on Second Avenue near East 122nd Street. The Village Voice reported that she left her home and never returned, but it is unknown who last saw her. There is no information on where she may have been headed or if she had plans to meet anyone.

The search for Keyla Contreras was urgent due to her being both deaf and mute. This raised concerns and added to the gravity of the situation. When Keyla Contreras disappeared, she was 5 feet tall and weighed 115 pounds. Keyla had black/dark brown hair and brown eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt, a blue jacket, jeans, and gray boots. Keyla is identified as “Black/Hispanic/Latino.”
