Mocobizscene – Six individuals, including two fugitives, are facing charges for allegedly defrauding insurance companies of over $1 million. The charges stem from their involvement in a Massachusetts auto-body shop business, where they are accused of submitting false claims. The announcement of these charges was made by officials.
On Monday, February 26, the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office revealed that the six defendants had been indicted.
The DA’s Office uncovered a two-year investigation that exposed FT Auto or Riviera Auto, based in Everett, as the primary orchestrator of a far-reaching scheme aimed at defrauding multiple insurance carriers.
The defendants devised a scheme where they would coordinate the submission of insurance claims on behalf of shop customers, resulting in over $1 million in fraudulent payments from carriers. These claims would make false assertions about motor vehicle collisions that never occurred, exaggerated vehicle damage, or even damage that was caused by the shop itself rather than a crash, according to officials.
The DA’s Office has revealed that the claims also included drivers who were actually aliases or stolen identities used by the defendants for the scheme.
In connection to the scheme, four defendants were arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court.
-
- Fabio Rodrigo Correa, of Saugus, age 31;
- Jose Manuel Gordon, of Roxbury, age 49;
- Tabajara Alves Ribiero, of Saugus, age 23;
- Wanda Greene, of Revere, age 56.
There are two individuals who are still at large and have been indicted in connection with the scheme. They are:
-
- Jhon Alexander Lopera Munera of Revere, age 40;
- Edwin Alexander Lopera Munera of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, age 33.
Officials have stated that both individuals are currently believed to be in Colombia.
According to the DA’s Office, Jhon Lopera and Correa orchestrated the scheme while Greene, a clerk at a Revere Registry of Motor Vehicles branch, carried out queries and transactions at the request of Lopera in exchange for electronic payments and gift cards, officials revealed.
