The police department has been working diligently to solve these crimes and bring justice to the victims affected by the car break-ins. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
Over the course of the last five weeks, various neighborhoods have undergone changes.
These incidents occurred at various locations, happening usually during one night each time.
A group of robbers illicitly entered cars and stole valuable items, which included three firearms.
According to authorities, Christopher Emerson was a member of that group.
Last week, the police secured search warrants for the suspect’s home after identifying him.
Marietta Police Public Information Officer Chuck McPhilamy informed Channel 2’s Tom Regan that during the search, they discovered a plethora of stolen items including a significant number of credit cards, debit cards, and a large quantity of trafficked cocaine. He further added that the individual was operating beyond conventional boundaries and was involved in criminal activities.
According to the police, Emerson was involved in car break-ins while he was out on bond. He had committed similar crimes earlier this year, making the situation even more alarming.
According to McPhilamy, the current suspect in question was previously taken into custody by their agency in February for his involvement in a series of over 30 burglaries. As per his statement, the suspect in the photo matches the description of the one arrested earlier.
The recent spate of burglaries in the neighborhood left one resident in disbelief.
Reggie Myers, a long-time resident of the area, expressed shock at the sight of shattered glass scattered all around. He stated that in his many years of living in the neighborhood, nothing like this has ever occurred before.
Emerson is now confronted with a total of 18 felony charges for his involvement in the recent burglaries, as well as previous charges, according to authorities.
Currently, he is detained in the Cobb County Detention Center without the option of bail.
