Clayton County shooting: DEA, GBI agents serving search warrant face gunfire resulting in the death of a man

An officer-involved shooting is currently under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Early Tuesday morning, federal officers from the US Drug Enforcement Administration and Task Force executed a search warrant for drug offenses at a residence located on Bag Pipe Place in Conley. The operation took place around 6 a.m. at the specified address in the 1600 block.

Upon entering the home, the DEA discovered that the homeowner had federal arrest warrants. The GBI reported that during the search, agents observed a man fleeing into one of the rooms.

According to authorities, the man was last seen in the vicinity where agents heard gunshots. Despite being fired upon, the agents did not retaliate.

Upon investigation, the GBI reported that a solitary gunshot was heard by agents, after which they discovered the man with a gunshot wound.

The individual was declared deceased at the location by Clayton County Fire officials.
