According to the official website of the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, the 37-year-old actor passed away due to a gunshot wound to the chest. The medical examiner determined the manner of death to be a homicide.

According to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department, Wactor was fatally shot in the downtown area early Saturday morning while attempting to steal a catalytic converter.

After portraying the character of Brando Corbin on the popular television show “General Hospital,” the actor was taken to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, the Los Angeles Fire Department personnel declared him deceased upon arrival.

According to a report by local TV station KTLA, the LAPD stated that Wactor witnessed three individuals stealing the catalytic converter from his vehicle. When he confronted them, they immediately turned around and shot him.

At approximately 3:25 a.m. local time, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) received a radio call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon and a shooting incident in the 1200 block of Hope Street. In response to the call, officers promptly arrived at the scene, where they found John William Wactor, the victim, who appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound, according to a news release from the police.

According to Scarlett, the mother of the actor, she mentioned to ABC7 on Sunday that her son was leaving work at a downtown rooftop bar when the incident occurred. Initially, Wactor believed that his car was being towed, so he approached the individual to inquire about it. However, when the masked suspect looked up, they immediately fired at her son.

According to the police, the suspects involved in Wactor’s case are still on the run. The investigation into this matter is being conducted by the Central Bureau Homicide.
