Captain of Clayton County Sheriff’s Office struck by driver while responding to crash that caused injuries to deputy and inmate

The Georgia State Patrol is currently looking into a collision that occurred between a Clayton County deputy and an inmate.

According to GSP, a three-vehicle collision occurred on Southridge Parkway in Forest Park at 5:13 p.m. on Thursday, and troopers were dispatched to the scene.

According to GSP, the crash occurred as a result of one of the drivers failing to stop in time, leading to a collision with the back of the Clayton County deputy car. This impact then caused the car to strike the back of another vehicle.

Both the deputy and inmate were transported to the hospital for medical attention.

A picture of the crash aftermath was shared by Ashli Lincoln, a correspondent from Channel 2.

The vehicle belonging to the sheriff deputy sustained extensive damage.

According to insiders who spoke to journalist Tom Jones from Channel 2, a sheriff’s captain was standing on the road at the crash site approximately 45 minutes later when an elderly driver accidentally struck him.

According to Jones, the captain is in a stable condition and has been transferred to Grady hospital.

GSP has reason to believe that the driver involved in the initial multi-vehicle collision was under the influence.
