Police in northeast Ohio are seeking assistance from the public in locating an individual who was captured on camera pointing a firearm at a Burger King drive-thru employee. The incident occurred when the employee attempted to offer the man a discount.
The Willowick Police Department reported that the incident occurred in a Cleveland suburb at around 9 a.m. on Easter.
The Burger King employee reported the crime to the department, but thankfully, no injuries were reported.
The police in Willowick, a city situated along Lake Erie, have released images showing the suspect standing outside a black vehicle next to a white car at the drive-thru window. In the pictures, the suspect can be seen pointing a firearm at the employee inside.
According to the employee, here’s what happened during the unexpected incident:
‘I don’t know why you want to pay more money’
According to WOIO-TV, Howard Vernon, the employee, shared that he was in charge of taking the customer’s order. The order consisted of two sausage, egg, and cheese croissants, a sausage biscuit, and hash browns. The total cost of the order was approximately $8.
According to Vernon, the customer was dissatisfied with his order and believed that the price should have been around $11. Vernon attempted to explain that there was a promotion going on, resulting in a lower price. However, the customer became angry and started using profanity, causing a scene. Vernon expressed his confusion, stating, “I don’t know what to tell you, I don’t understand why you would want to pay more money.”
The customer quickly drove away from the scene. However, surveillance video footage from the business revealed that he came back shortly after and parked his car next to another vehicle outside the drive-thru window.
