Bibb County police detain two men for shoplifting at a grocery store

Two individuals have been arrested by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office for their involvement in a burglary in Macon.

According to BCSO, the burglary occurred on June 20, a little before 2:30 p.m.

As the deputies were patrolling, they came across Houston Grocery located on Houston Avenue. They observed a vehicle that was backed in at the side of the business, which was closed at the time.

A witness reported observing a man removing items from the business and placing them into a vehicle. Another individual was present inside the same vehicle during the incident.

Deputies detained both men.

Upon further examination, the owner of the business reported that the men were not authorized to be on the property or to take anything from the business.

Eddie Eugene Slatton and Joe Wesley Shipman, both aged 62 and 67 respectively, were apprehended by investigators.

The authorities successfully retrieved the property.

The authorities escorted Slatton and Shipman to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

They were accused of committing felony second degree burglary.
