R&B singer Mariah The Scientist found herself in trouble with the law when she was arrested and booked in Atlanta on Wednesday night. The incident occurred after a woman reported to the police that Mariah had allegedly unleashed a brutal assault on her without any clear motive.
A woman named Cleopatra Dues arrived at the Zone 2 precinct on March 29 and reported an attack by Mariah the previous night at the Cavo Kitchen and Cocktail lounge, as stated in a Fulton County police report obtained by TMZ Hip Hop.
After feeling unsafe, she decided to leave the scene and immediately dialed 911 to report the incident.
Video of the incident was captured by onlookers. Although it’s not clear if the person in the footage is Mariah, Dues expresses her desire to press charges and determine if Cavo possesses any other surveillance footage of the incident.
Staten Island rapper Cleotrapa was mistakenly identified as the alleged victim on social media when the video started circulating. However, it turned out that it was not her, but rather someone with the same first name.
Dues explains that she wasn’t wearing her glasses at the time and couldn’t clearly see her attacker. However, she was later able to identify her as Mariah Buckles, also known as Mariah The Scientist.
Dues informed the police that she is completely unaware of the reason behind the attack. She firmly asserts that she never had any prior interaction with Mariah or her group of friends.
Mariah was arrested on Wednesday for a charge of simple battery and was released on bail later in the day.
