Arrest made after homeless man stabs another individual at popular Pocatello park

A homeless man has been taken into police custody following a stabbing incident at Caldwell Park near the Bannock County Courthouse, according to authorities.

The stabbing took place at the popular Pocatello park around 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday. According to the police, the suspect, an adult male, immediately fled the scene on foot.

The suspect, Vidal Goins, aged 46, was swiftly apprehended by the Pocatello police on the 300 block of East Center Street. The arrest of Goins occurred just minutes after the police spotted him, and it was carried out without any additional complications.

The Pocatello Fire Department ambulance quickly transported the victim to Portneuf Medical Center.

The victim’s condition was described by the police as serious; however, they stated that he is expected to survive.

The authorities have not yet disclosed the identity of the victim or provided any details about the incident leading to the stabbing.

Authorities are advising the public to avoid Caldwell Park until further notice due to its designation as a crime scene.

Pocatello police are currently investigating the stabbing incident.
