On Tuesday, a new car was presented to an Alabama veteran who sustained injuries during their service. The commendable honor was bestowed upon the veteran as a token of appreciation for their sacrifices. The event took place in Birmingham, Alabama.
Freedom Alliance and U.S. Bank teamed up to alleviate the burden on veteran Robert Luke Cureton in taking care of his family.
Cureton holds the non-profit organization Freedom Alliance very close to his heart. He has had a personal connection with the group for quite some time now, as they have provided scholarships to his children in the past. Recently, the Cureton family was gifted a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee by Freedom Alliance to assist them in their daily life. This vehicle has been a great help to them as Cureton attends rehabilitation appointments and transports his family members wherever they need to go.
Cureton expressed that having the ability to use the money that would otherwise go towards a car would greatly contribute to their financial independence. “It’ll definitely offer us more flexibility to take care of ourselves in a better way,” said Cureton.
Cureton felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude as soon as he laid eyes on the car.
He exclaimed, “Oh my goodness!” and added, “I’m still trying to process what’s happening right now.”
Cureton expresses his gratitude towards his fellow soldiers who made great sacrifices on the battlefield.
He expressed, “I am able to be here today thanks to the sacrifice of many of my friends who couldn’t make it. This car serves as a reminder of them as well.”
Tom Kilgannon, the president of Freedom Alliance, expresses how providing opportunities to veterans holds great significance to him.
Kilgannon shared that being able to provide assistance to someone who has served in the military for over 10 years, deployed multiple times, and sustained injuries during their service, is a truly meaningful experience. Supporting these individuals with their everyday struggles is a way of acknowledging their sacrifices and dedication to their country.
Cureton’s four children have received scholarships from Freedom Alliance to support their education while they attend the University of Alabama.
