In communities across the United States, it is typical for children to walk around safely. However, this was not the case for 16-year-old Kimberly Nicole Arrington in Montgomery, Alabama. On the day before Halloween in 1998, Kimberly left her home around 4:00 p.m. to buy candy and a soda from her neighborhood CVS Pharmacy. When she did not return within one hour, her parents became worried. They searched for her themselves and went to the store where they were informed that Kimberly had made it there, but no one had seen her since. After searching for hours with no leads on her whereabouts, they contacted the police.
The Investigation Into Kimberly Arrington’s Disappearance
Kimberly was treated as a runaway by the police even though there was no evidence to support this assumption, simply because of her age. Despite being a tenth-grader at Jefferson Davis High School, Kimberly was known to be a happy and content teenager, with no signs of rebellious behavior. She enjoyed music, dancing, and had a keen interest in computers. In fact, Kimberly was in the midst of making Christmas shopping plans with her family and had scheduled a time with her father to buy gifts for her loved ones. There was nothing to suggest that Kimberly had left her home in a distraught or troubled state.
Initially, detectives may have thought that Kimberly had run away from home. However, their suspicion has now shifted towards her being abducted during her visit to the CVS store. Although she was last seen at CVS, there were no witnesses who saw her in distress, and there isn’t any evidence to suggest that she was in danger or involved in a situation that could have endangered her life.
Kimberly’s mother passed away in 2005, not knowing what happened to her missing daughter. Her father, on the other hand, is still alive and reportedly continues to search for his child.
Kimberly Arrington: What To Know
Kimberly was around 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighed approximately 110 pounds when she went missing. She had black or dark brown hair and brown eyes.
Kimberly was last seen dressed in a gray Bugle Boy shirt with a collar, light blue Levi jeans, and white Reebok sneakers with gray trim. She was also wearing an emerald ring with two diamonds on each side and a double heart ring set with a diamond. Kimberly had a small surgical scar on the left side of her abdomen, and her ears were pierced. It is pertinent to note that Kimberly suffered from severe allergies, and at the time of her disappearance, she avoided flare-ups and irritations by spending most of her time indoors.
