Alabama hosts ‘Empty the Shelters’ campaign throughout July

Starting July 8 and running through July 31, the BISSELL Pet Foundation is set to hold its “Empty the Shelters” event in Birmingham, Alabama.

BISSELL Pet Foundation is organizing an adoption event in four different states where adoption fees will be lowered to $50 or even less. Families who adopt a pet during the event will be provided with a fully vaccinated, microchipped and spayed or neutered pet to take home.

According to founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation, Cathy Bissell, shelters are facing numerous challenges at the moment. Some are having to evacuate pets due to wildfires, tornadoes, or lack of air conditioning during extreme heat. Meanwhile, others are overcrowded and forced to euthanize pets that are highly adoptable just to make room. It is a heartbreaking situation for all involved.
