After a worldwide technology failure, a Boy Scout troop from NJ is finally back home after being stranded abroad

After experiencing an airline outage last week, the South Jersey Boy Scout Troop has finally made it back to the United States.

A Boy Scout Troop from South Jersey has successfully returned to the United States after facing travel complications due to the recent CrowdStrike meltdown.

Upon arriving at the airport on Friday, Troop 122, who had been enjoying their scout camp in St. Croix for almost two weeks, were informed that their flights had been canceled.

Scout Master Stacey White shared that their flights have been canceled and they are now stranded on the island for another week. She mentioned that the cost of food on the island is exorbitant, with a week’s worth of provisions amounting to $5,000. She further added that even butter costs $11 per pound, highlighting the steep prices of basic necessities.

According to reports, there have been increasing outages in the services of major companies such as Visa, ADT Security, Amazon, American Airlines, and Delta. The severity of the situation has raised concerns, and CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity firm, has provided their insights on the matter.

The children with medical needs were the top priority for troop leaders.

White commented that he currently does not have medication for these children for an additional five to seven days, and therefore, they are prioritizing an exit plan to first evacuate the most urgent cases.

After facing some difficulties with Spirit Airlines, the troop was able to land in Philadelphia at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Saturday.
