A pair accused of drug possession and putting a child in danger with chemicals

The Pike County Jail has booked a couple on multiple charges, including possession of substantial amounts of drugs and child endangerment.

On May 17, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) Troopers chased down Blakely Kwame Carter, aged 34, and Sheleena Katrice Evans, aged 31. Upon their arrest, law enforcement officials discovered that the couple had been carrying significant amounts of fentanyl and methamphetamine within their vehicle. Shockingly, a minor child was also present in the car at the time of their arrest.

The authorities have charged Carter and Evans with several serious offenses. These include chemical endangerment of a child, tampering with physical evidence, drug trafficking (two counts for Carter and two for Evans), reckless endangerment, and possession of marijuana in the first degree. Currently, Carter is being detained in the Pike County Jail, and his bond is set at $1,073,000. On the other hand, Evans is being held on a $1,031,000 bond.
