A group of 6 children, including a 9-year-old, face charges in relation to the drowning of a 15-year-old in a Georgia pond.

Six individuals under the age of 18 are facing charges in connection with the death of a 15-year-old boy whose body was discovered floating in a retention pond several weeks ago.

On May 29, the Columbus police discovered the body of Zahmere Greene in a pond situated less than one mile away from the Chattahoochee River.

According to investigators, Greene’s body had been undiscovered for almost a week before it was found. The initial reports suggest that he drowned on May 23rd, but the incident was not reported until six days later.

According to detectives, the incident was witnessed by multiple children ranging from 9 to 12 years old along with a teenager.

An 11-year-old has been charged by the police with involuntary manslaughter and concealing the death of another individual. The young suspect is currently being held at the Regional Youth Detention Center.

On June 8, Shane Sano, a 17-year-old, was charged with concealing the death of another individual. He was subsequently booked into the Muscogee County Jail.

The authorities have charged four minors, aged between 9 and 12, for concealing the death of another individual. They have been released into the custody of their parents following the legal proceedings.

Parents should stress the significance of the “see something, say something” principle to their children, as per the police’s advice. This incident serves as a reminder of the same.
