Family seeks justice for the murder of KCK woman 10 years later

Mocobizscene- This weekend, the community of Kansas City, Mo. commemorated the 10th anniversary of the tragic and still unresolved homicide of 22-year-old Latisha Hare.

“Latisha was a young, beautiful mother,” expressed Hare’s aunt Gwen Smith. “She had her entire future ahead of her, so if you have any information, please step forward.”

Latisha’s loved ones and acquaintances came together on Sunday at the Bonner Springs Cemetery to hold a vigil in honor of Latisha, marking the solemn occasion of the 10th anniversary of her tragic murder. They gathered together, reminiscing and adorning her gravestone with flowers, candles, and other meaningful items.

“I’m really glad to be here because I’ve been wanting to visit her tombstone and all,” Hare’s daughter shared. “I truly hope that justice will be served soon, as it has been a long time coming.”

According to Smith, obtaining justice for Latisha and uncovering the factors that led to her tragic murder in February 2014 would provide the family with a certain level of closure.

“I just want to ensure that the person responsible for this crime faces the consequences,” expressed Smith. “It’s difficult to accept that they are freely roaming around, while we are left in the dark with no explanation.”
