While most people struggle to beat the heat during summer, a young boy from Mississippi is taking a different approach. Instead of trying to stay cool, he is embracing the challenge.
Jedidah Dupray, a courageous nine-year-old, is enduring the scorching heat to offer complimentary lawn maintenance services for people who require them.
He has already mowed over 100 yards since he started last year.
According to Dupray, the elderly and disabled individuals face difficulties in maintaining their lawn. Due to mobility issues, they are unable to move around and take care of their lawn. Moreover, some of them cannot afford the high charges of lawn maintenance services. As Dupray puts it, “They can’t really do their lawn, and some of them just can’t pay for it because people that would do it, they charge a lot of money and they just need people to do it for free for them.”
Rodney Smith, Jr.’s Raising Men & Women Lawn Care Service inspired Dupray’s mother with their Facebook challenge. The challenge urged children to offer free lawn care services to elderly individuals, disabled persons, single mothers, and veterans.
According to Rachel Dupray, the mother of a young boy named Mr. Rodney from Alabama, her son initiated a unique challenge for kids in his area. He called it the “50-yard challenge” and offered to send them a free T-shirt every ten yards they mowed. Upon completion of the challenge, Mr. Rodney promised to deliver a lawnmower, weed whacker, and leaf blower to the participants.
According to Rachel, her son didn’t just acquire his tools, he went on to take up three different challenges.
According to Dupray, the impact of one’s actions on others can never be predicted. “It’s amazing to see how deeply it affects people,” she remarked.
He has set his sights on achieving one thousand free yards by the time he graduates high school, even as a fourth-grader.
