9 Dead After A Semi Collided With A Van In West-central Wisconsin

A incident between a truck and a van killed nine people and closed Highway 95 in west-central Wisconsin on Friday.

According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, the tragic incident occurred on the highway near County Road J in Dewhurst Township, some 50 miles east of Eau Claire.

The van was heading north on the county road when it came to an intersection with Highway 95, according to the sheriff’s office. When the semi, which was traveling east on the highway, crashed with the van.

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers grieved the crash, praised first responders, and acknowledged nine individuals were killed in a recent X post. The Wisconsin State Patrol is cooperating with the inquiry.

On Friday, that portion of Highway 95 was closed for several hours, and drivers were advised to avoid the area.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, eastbound travelers should take Fisher Avenue to Pinewood Road, then return to the interstate via Riveria Avenue.

Westbound drivers should take Riveria Avenue to Pineview Road, then Fisher Avenue to reach the freeway.
