Mocobizscene- A contractor in central Indiana, who has a previous conviction for defrauding customers, is now facing new allegations of similar misconduct. Numerous businesses and homeowners in central Indiana are expressing their frustration and financial loss.
Fyzal Ohab, from City Wide Paving LLC, explained that they had to make adjustments to their operations in order to become more streamlined. Jerry Hatten, the owner of Amazing Design LLC, has been accused in court documents of hiring City Wide Paving for two separate projects. The combined value of these projects exceeds $80,000.
Ohab confidently stated that they had covered the expenses for the materials and efficiently completed the task. According to the probable cause affidavit, Hatten is accused of using bad checks to pay City Wide Paving LLC. City Wide Paving attempted to deposit the funds into their bank account, as per court documents. However, it was revealed that the checks were written from a closed account.
According to Ohab, the two claims account for roughly 30% of our annual profit.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Hatten’s fraudulent activities extended beyond City Wade Paving. The document reveals that Hatten wrote bad checks for nine other businesses and individuals last year, amounting to a staggering sum of over $187,000.
“I was taken aback when I hit a wall,” Ohab admitted.
Hatten has a history of getting into trouble with the law for similar crimes, as WRTV Investigates discovered when they examined his background in 2017.
According to court records, Hatten received a sentence in 2018 for his involvement in six different incidents. After agreeing to a plea deal, he served a prison term of 3-and-a-half years.
