On Friday, a judge sentenced an Indianapolis resident to 16 years in prison for his role in a shooting that occurred in October 2021, as well as for a drug possession charge.
IMPD officers of the Northwest District swiftly responded to a call reporting a shooting incident on October 18, 2021, in the 5500 block of W 38th Street. As per their report, they found an adult female with injuries that matched gunshot wounds upon arrival. She was immediately taken to a local hospital where she is now in stable condition. The IMPD has commenced an investigation into the matter.
Police arrested Jordan Montez Davis, a 27-year-old man from Indianapolis following the investigation. Davis initially had to face:

- Two attempted murder charges (a Level 1 Felony)
- A battery by means of a deadly weapon charge (a Level 5 felony)
- The unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon (a Level 4 felony) and the carrying of said firearm when he had a prior felony conviction within the last 15 years (a Level 5 felony)
- A criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon charge (a Level 6 felony)
- A dealing in a narcotic drug of 10 or more grams charge (a Level 2 felony)
- A charge on possession of marijuana (a Class B misdemeanor)
Despite the initial charges, Davis was able to resolve the case through a plea agreement. As a result, all charges were ultimately dismissed and Davis pled guilty to the agreed upon terms.

- Aggravated battery use when the assault poses a substantial risk of death or serious permanent disfigurement (a Level 3 felony)
According to the plea agreement, Davis has been sentenced to a total of 18 years for the two counts, with 16 years to be served in prison and the remaining two years on home detention. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed this information.
